If you are tired of unnecessary calls and annoying SMS, then there is good news for you. Since the firmware update to iOS 7, the iPhone has received a long-awaited feature with the eloquent name “blacklist”.

Thanks to this feature, you can blacklist unwanted phone calls, incoming SMS, as well as FaceTime calls.

There are two ways to blacklist a subscriber:

Following the first method, you will need to go to the menu Settings -> Phone -> Blocked, after which all that remains is click the “Add new” button.

After this all that remains is select the desired contact from the address book.

It should be noted that each subscriber number is included in the blacklist. If you want to add only certain numbers of the desired subscriber, then to delete the extra ones you will need to swipe to the left and click “Unblock”.

There is also a second way. To eliminate unwanted calls from your life, you need to use the Phone application. In this application select the “Recent” tab.

After that, find the number you are interested in and Click on the detailed information icon. You will then be required to scroll to the bottom of the list and click "Block subscriber". The final step is to confirm the above steps. To do this you just need to press the button "Block contact".

One of the most useful innovations in iOS 7 is the blacklist. Now you can easily block an annoying subscriber using standard methods, without resorting to third-party applications or additional services. An unwanted number can be added to the “black list” in three ways.

Adding an iPhone contact to the blacklist

If you have an unwanted interlocutor in your contact list, you can block him as follows:

Launch the standard Phone application. Select the Contacts section in it and find the subscriber who is annoying you. Having selected a contact, scroll down the page with its information, where the Block subscriber button is located, click on it.

A warning appears:

You will not be able to receive phone calls, messages, or FaceTime calls from people on your block list.

Exactly what is needed. Confirm – Block contact. Now the annoying interlocutor will not be able to bother you, at least from this number.

Block a number that is not in your iPhone contacts

If a person turns out to be very persistent and uses an unknown number to call, then you can also block him:

We use the same Phone application, only now we go to the Recent section. We find among the numbers the one that needs to be placed on the “black list” and click the “i” icon opposite it. We get to the page with the data of an unknown subscriber, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Block subscriber. Voila! They will no longer call you or send you SMS from this number.

Block a number through “Messages”

If you are being harassed by SMS messages or sent tons of spam, dealing with it is very easy. Any contact can be blacklisted directly in messages. Moreover, he will be able to send SMS, but they will never reach you. Here's what you need to do:

Launch the Messages application and select correspondence with that same restless interlocutor. Click on the top right Contact. A panel will appear where you need to press “i”. Scroll down the page again and click Block subscriber. That's all.

How to edit the blacklist on iPhone?

If you need to view the entire list of blocked numbers, look for it in the Settings app:

Actually, launch the Settings application, select the Phone section and scroll down until the message Blocked appears. This is where all the subscribers you don’t like are stored. Right here you can add or remove numbers from the “black list”. Now you don’t have to be distracted by calls from an annoying interlocutor. Once on the “black list”, he will only hear short beeps and think that the line is busy.

Blocking annoying contacts is possible without the participation of a mobile operator. iPhone owners are encouraged to use a special tool in the settings or install a more functional solution from an independent developer.

Creating a list of unwanted numbers that can call the owner of an iPhone occurs directly in the phone book and through "Messages". In addition, the user has the right to download third-party applications from the App Store with an expanded set of capabilities.

Please note that the caller can disable the display of their number in the settings. Then he will be able to get through to you, and on the screen the user will see the inscription "Unknown". We talked about how to enable or disable this function on your phone at the end of this article.

Method 1: BlackList

In addition to the standard blocking settings, you can use any third-party application from the App Store. As an example, we will take BlackList: caller ID & blocker. It is equipped with a function to block any numbers, even if they are not in your contact list. The user is also asked to buy the pro version to set a range of phone numbers, paste them from the clipboard, and import CSV files.

To fully use the application, you need to go through several steps in your phone settings.

Now let's move on to working with the application itself.

  1. Open "BlackList".
  2. Go to "My list" to add a new number to the emergency situation.
  3. Click on the special icon at the top of the screen.
  4. Here the user can select numbers from Contacts or add a new one. Let's choose "Add number".
  5. Enter the contact name and phone number, tap "Ready". Now calls from this subscriber will be blocked. However, you will not receive a notification that you received a call. The app also cannot block hidden numbers.

Method 2: iOS Settings

The difference between the system’s functions and third-party solutions is that the latter offer blocking of any number. While in the iPhone settings you can add to the blacklist only your contacts or those numbers from which you have ever been called or texted.

Option 1: Messages

Blocking a number that sends you unwanted SMS is available directly from the application "Messages". To do this, you just need to go into your dialogues.

Do you need to blacklist unwanted iPhone 4, 5, 5s, 6 subscribers? Nothing could be simpler.

The developers of iPhone 4 and higher models have created new iOS 7 software in the smartphone, which will allow you to add a subscriber to the blacklist in a few seconds on the iPhone. And, if you change your mind later, then removing it from the “black list” will not be difficult for you.

If you block an annoying visitor, he will no longer be able to call or write SMS to you, and will also not be able to disturb you via WhatsApp using the Face Time function.

After calling you, the blacklisted subscriber will hear a series of short beeps. At the same time, you will always be able to reach a subscriber who has been blacklisted, and you will also be able to send him an SMS, unlike him.

How to blacklist an unknown number on iPhone, block spam messages from unwanted people, how to block a number on iPhone, how to unblock blacklisted contacts, is it possible to find out if you are on a blacklist and how to add if you have a different model iPhone 3, you will find out by reading this article.

Blocking a subscriber's contact

How to blacklist numbers on iPhone 5 or 6:

Action 1. On the main desktop of the iPhone, click on the folder with contacts of phone numbers.

Action 2. Select the list of “recent” or “missed” calls, where we find the desired subscriber.

Action 3. Find and activate the “i” icon located to the right of the opened contact.

Action 4. Go down the screen and activate the “block subscriber” icon.

Action 5. When asked to confirm sending the contact to the blacklist, click “Submit” at the bottom, thereby confirming that you were not mistaken.

The process of sending the contact to the black box is complete. You can sleep peacefully. Visually it looks like this.

If you have blacklisted several callers or unknown numbers on your iPhone, then this entire list will be stored on your iPhone, for iPhone above 4 models, even when you back up data to the cloud and back to your smartphone.

Checking the “blocked” list

If you forgot or want to check the list of “black” subscribers, then you need to go to the “settings” of your iPhone 5 or 6, where you select the “phone” icon and open the folder by clicking on the “blocked” button. You will see a list of all contacts of numbers that you have blocked from calling and sending messages.

What if it happens that no one called, but many different unnecessary and sometimes unpleasant messages come from people you don’t know, whom you don’t have in your contacts, offering you to buy something, asking you questions that don’t interest you? This is also easy to solve.

Blocking unnecessary spam SMS senders

To block the sender of an SMS, open the main menu of the iPhone 5 or 6 and select the “messages” section. Next, open the message itself and under it click the “Block” command. The action to block the unknown spammer is completed, and he will no longer be able to send you messages or call you. There are no restrictions on the number of spam messages blocked.

Returning a contact from the “black list”

Time passes, everything changes, and perhaps you will need the subscriber you blacklisted, and you will want to return him to the accessible network again. You can also do it easily and simply as follows.

On the home screen, select the "settings" icon, where you find the "phone" button and press it, a list will open in which you select "blocked" or "lock" and open it. Then find and click the Edit button. The number blocking window will open. All you have to do is click on the “Unblock” function and the phone number will be unblocked. The subscriber will be able to reach you. In the same way, you can unblock the sender of an SMS message that was previously blacklisted, because the list of blocked contacts is common.

How to find out if you are blacklisted

It happens that you cannot reach the subscriber you need for a long time and begin to suspect that he could not have transferred you to the notorious black list. How to find out?

To find out for sure whether you have been blacklisted on your iPhone, you will have to contact your cellular operator, and they will kindly offer you to connect anti-caller ID. This service will most likely be paid.

If you already have an anti-identifier installed or you still acquired this feature by connecting, you need to do the following.

Open the phone menu and go to “Settings”, select the “Phone” folder, and then select “Show number” and turn off the toggle switch.

How to open the “black list” if you have an iPhone 3 model

The process of sending nasty contacts to the black box on earlier iPhone models than iPhone 4, 5, 5s is significantly different. The fact is that in these types of iPhone models there is no such option as having a “black list”, which unfairly deprives the smartphone user of the opportunity to get rid of annoying SMS or calls. How to block a contact in this case?

The iOS 6 operating system installed on your iPhone provides a function similar to a “black list”. To use it, you need to open the main menu of your smartphone, find and open the “Contacts” folder. Click on the cross in the upper right corner, which means “add contact”. The contact editing menu will open. Then come up with and manually enter some memorable name for the subscriber you are blocking. Now you need to select the type of vibration and set a silent ringtone for the created black box from the options available on your smartphone. If you don’t have such a silent ringtone on your phone, you’ll have to record it yourself using iTunes. Now save the blacklisted numbers. The process of sending a number to Do Not Disturb mode is complete. Unfortunately, this “Do Not Disturb” function on previously created iPhones will not block the subscriber so much that he cannot call you, but in case of his calls, the sound of the smartphone will be “silent”.
